Day 1
Arrival in Budapest, check-in, dinner at hotel.
Day 2
City tour in Budapest: Pest district: The Millennium Monument rises on Heldenplatz.
The “Champs Elysées” of Budapest, the Andrassy út, also begins here. The State Opera is
located here. Continue to the St. Stephen’s Basilica and the Parliament, a magnificent building on the Danube. We still stay in Pest and visit the Jewish quarter with the famous Synagogue. Continue to the Market Hall: visit and lunch break. Round trip in Buda on the Gellért Hill. Drive to the castle district. The southern end of the narrow plateau of the castle hill is dominated by the mighty royal palace. In the center of the castle district, the slender tower of the Matthias Church rises. The afternoon is at your disposal. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Budapest.
Day 3
Gödöllő and Eger: Travel to Gödöllő, to the Sissi Palace.
In the main building there are more than 20 rooms that have
been reconstructed, including the living quarters of the imperial-royal couple, and the state hall have been opened to the public. Then travel to Eger. You will visit the magnificent sights of Eger: the fortress, the magnificent baroque palace in the city center, the archbishop’s cathedral, a huge classical building. In the Lyceum (admission optional) you can visit the beautiful baroque library and the observatory with a small museum of various measuring instruments. Dinner will be served in the Valley of the Beautiful Women with wine tasting. Overnight in Eger.
Day 4
Kecskemét and the Puszta: Travel to the Hungarian lowlands.
Short sightseeing in the Art Nouveau town of Kecskemet.
Puszta programs including welcome drink, carriage ride, horse demonstration, typical lunch with Hungarian goulash soup, mixed roasting platter with side dish and sour salad, dessert, wine and water, coffee. Continue towards Lake Balaton. Checkin, dinner at hotel in Balatonfüred.
Day 5
Balaton with wine tasting: Balatonfüred is a pleasant destination all year round- with its monarch-style grand hotels, villas and bathing houses.
One of the most famous lake promenades in Europe is located in Balatonfüred. Travel to Tihany. The peninsula has been under nature protection since 1952 because of the volcanic formations, the geyser cone. Possibility to visit the Benedictine Abbey Church. An overwhelming panorama of the lake opens up from the terrace behind the church. Continue to a winery on the lake. Wine tasting with a small snack. Free afternoon. Dinner at hotel.
Day 6
Travel home via Veszprém: European Capital of Culture 2023: Check out from the hotel.
Drive towards the border. On the way visit to the city of queens, Veszprem: short walk in the
old city center including a visit to the bishop’s palace (admission optional).
